SOP: Uniform & Appearance

Department: Field Operations

Policy Purpose: To ensure all MobileBattery technicians and contractors project a highly professional, trustworthy, and instantly recognizable brand image to our customers, while adhering to strict safety standards.

1. The Core Uniform

Consistency in the field is mandatory. When a customer sees our team approaching, there should be zero doubt about who they are.

  • The "All-Green" Standard: Technicians must be dressed in all green while on shift to align with the core MobileBattery brand appearance.

  • Tops: Company-issued or approved solid green work shirts (polos or button-downs). Shirts must be clean, free of wrinkles, and tucked in.

  • Bottoms: Approved green work pants or cargo pants. Sweatpants, gym shorts, or heavily faded/torn materials are strictly prohibited.

  • Headwear: If wearing a hat, it must be the company-issued MobileBattery cap or a plain, unbranded green or black beanie for colder weather.

2. Footwear & Safety Gear

Safety cannot be compromised for appearance. Proper footwear protects against heavy batteries, dropped tools, and slippery conditions.

  • Work Boots: CSA-approved steel-toe or composite-toe boots are required at all times. Boots should be in good repair, preferably in black or dark brown. Running shoes or open-toed shoes are a safety violation.

  • High-Visibility Outerwear: When working on the side of the road or in dimly lit parking garages, a high-visibility safety vest must be worn over the green uniform.

  • Gloves & Eye Protection: Acid-resistant mechanic gloves and safety glasses must be kept on hand and worn during the physical battery swap and terminal cleaning process.

3. Weather Adaptability

Given the heavy rainfall and shifting weather in the Metro Vancouver area, technicians must be prepared to work cleanly in poor conditions.

  • Rain Gear: Technicians should keep clean, waterproof rain jackets and pants in their service vehicles. Rain gear should ideally be green or black to maintain a professional look.

  • Customer Interation in the Rain: Even if wearing heavy rain gear during the install, ensure your face is visible and your MobileBattery ID is accessible when first greeting the customer.

4. Personal Grooming

  • Hygiene: Technicians work in close proximity to customers. Daily hygiene and a clean overall appearance are expected at the start of every shift.

  • Hair & Jewelry: Long hair must be securely tied back to avoid getting caught in moving engine parts or belts. Dangling jewelry, chains, or loose accessories must be removed prior to opening a vehicle's hood.

  • Hands: While grease is part of the job, hands and fingernails should be clean when arriving at the first site of the day. Keep heavy-duty hand wipes in the vehicle to clean up before handing a customer a tablet for payment.
